It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it has been a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was out Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
